Paper Studio Series RPS2:

The Paper Studio, our intermediary series for returning students ages 9-13, is devoted to those folks who have participated in at least one 2007 summer camp, and are comfortable and ready to move ahead.

This class is still project based, but students delve more into accessories, wearables and embellishment, mirroring current fashion.

Scissors Studio Series RPS3:

The Scissors Studio, our über sewing series is for our 13-16 year old students who can’t let go their sewing mania!

Students will be introduced to pattern making software and will be taught how to take their measurements, to utilize these measurements in the software to design a garment, then to print and cut out a garment and finally, how to sew it.

We’ll explore along the way how to personalize the garment to make it truly unique.

RPS educational staff

This year, we’re pleased to have Elizabeth Anderson teach RPS1 and RPS2. She brings years of experience teaching sewing in public school, and she is madly adored by her students! Peggy Yamamoto who already has adoring Sewing Arts Center fans will continue wowing her students teaching the RPS3 sessions.

RPS enrollment details

You’ll be pleased to note that we’ve decreased the sessions from 5 days (Monday-Friday) to 4 days (Monday-Thursday) to allow for those coveted 3-day summer weekends. We’ve also been able to rework our pricing structure, too. Just as last year, we’ll provide machines in the classroom, and all sewing supplies, patterns and materials. (Returning students are welcome to bring their machines purchased at Sewing Arts Center or to use a classroom machine.) This year, the cost will be just $250.00 per 4-day week for returning students and for those who do not wish to purchase a sewing machine. If you’d like to purchase a sewing machine making the camp all-inclusive, the packages are as follows: structure is as follows:

Bronze Package: $400 Silver Package: $500 Gold Package: $600
Bronze Package Includes Emerald 116 (Good durability, has a needle threader, hard cover and basic construction stitches.) Silver Package Includes an Emerald 118 (same machine as last year, has a needle threader, speed control, needle up/down, hard cover and basic construction stitches.) Gold Package:
Husqvarna Viking Emerald 183 (Top of the line Emerald with needle threader, speed control, needle/up down, hard cover, computerized and feature rich. Stitch selection with the push of a button, programmable stitches and alphabets)

Pretty much for the price of the sewing machine, you get 10 hours of summer sewing camp!

You’ll need to make a commitment at the time of enrollment for which package you’d like, as we will be unable to modify your package request once you have enrolled your child (everything has to be pre-ordered). Minimum enrollment is 7 and maximum enrollment is 10 students. If a series doesn’t garner enough enrollments (it rarely but occasionally happens), we’ll try to let you know at least two weeks in advance so that we can enroll your child in another section.

And the hard-nosed part: With a minimum two-week notice, we are happy to enroll your child in an alternate section, as space permits. Except for cancellations on our part, refunds are not granted. No exceptions. Should you find your child is  unable to attend the section for which he or she is enrolled and we are unable to accommodate an alternate section for your child, your child is still entitled to the purchased machine and to take our free machine instruction classes for his or her machine.
